In 1980s Prof. Singh made his significant contribution in designing and production of space foods for first Indo-Russian space flight while serving at Defense Food Research Laboratory, Mysore.
Dr. Singh had been Officer on Special Duty (Horticulture) at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi where he developed herbal gardens and wrote two coffee table books namely Roses of Rashtrapati Bhawan and Trees of Rashtrapati Bhawan under the guidance of the then President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam besides publishing more than 150 research papers, review and other articles and six books.
